Familiar with GIS but not sure how to use it to project coastal inundation in your community? You’re in luck: a whole bunch of organizations have banded together to offer you a free class on how to do it.
The details:
When: June 29th & 30th 2010 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Where: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Estuarine Education Center (Gautier, MS)
Who Should Attend: GIS Specialists, Certified Floodplain Managers, Emergency Managers, National Weather Service Personnel, State and Local Planners
Instructors: Doug Marcy and Matt Pendleton, NOAA Coastal Services Center
The organizers note that this is NOT an introductory GIS class. All participants must have a working knowledge of ArcGIS prior to taking the workshop, and that the event is free, but with very limited seating. The deadline for pre-registration is Monday June 21, 2010.
